Ear pain (Otalgia) can range from mild discomfort to severe throbbing pain. It may be caused by ear infection, wax build-up, eardrum injury, throat problems, jaw issues or sinus infection. Symptoms requiring evaluation include sharp or throbbing ear pain, ear discharge, fever, blocked ear sensation, hearing loss, ringing (tinnitus), dizziness or pain while eating.
