A deviated nasal septum (DNS) occurs when the cartilage and bone dividing the nasal cavity is bent or crooked, causing nasal blockage, breathing difficulty, snoring, mouth breathing, frequent sinus infections, headaches and reduced sense of smell. At Dr. Jotsna ENT Super Speciality Hospital in Secunderabad (Padmarao Nagar), we evaluate your nasal passages with endoscopy and imaging to determine the severity of the deviation. Mild cases can be managed with medications, nasal sprays and allergy treatment. If symptoms persist or the deviation is severe, a surgical procedure called septoplasty is recommended to straighten the septum. Septoplasty is performed endoscopically through the nostrils under general anaesthesia with no visible scar. It improves airflow, reduces sinus infections and enhances quality of life. Following surgery, you may go home the same day with minimal discomfort.
